We spent last evening on the roof top of the King George
hotel. That may seem strange, but we were there for dinner. There was a clear
view of the Acropolis with the Parthenon, the focal point in Athens.
We had read about its history, toured it by day, watched a
documentary on its restoration, but nothing prepared us for the sunset
experience. As the sun set, the lights came on, and the archeological wonder
took on a diamond like appearance perched above the city. The darker it got,
the more brilliant it shone to the point it seemed to come alive.
Accompanied by the jewel of Athens shining in all its glory,
and a bottle of Greek wine, we had a very special dining experience in deed,
under the Grecian sky.
