A Dolcevita representative took us and the supplied bikes from the airport and dropped us at a small hotel in Nebida on the west coast of Sandinia. We adjusted our bikes, slept and ate well, then headed off in the morning. The weather was good and the scenery spectacular for 22 kms along the coast.
You'll note, no helmet and no gloves as they were in the lost luggage, just sunglasses, a bright shirt, shorts and running shoes which Marlene had worn or had in her carry-on napsack.
We took a ferry from Portoscuso to Carloforte on an adjacent island. There we cycled a 13 KM loop on the east side of the island where we caught another ferry to a 3rd island arriving in the village of Calasetta. We shopped for a few of the necessities and rode 30 minutes out to our resort on the west side of Sant' Antioco island. The first day on the road was a success, though we felt at a loss without some of our belongings.
