But that wasn't to be. Following a good sleep and breakfast, we acknowledged to each other we'd be at least another day without luggage. We mounted our bikes and headed off for a short 23 km but hilly day. From the hotel, we headed back to the coast. Marlene held back on the uphill grades to give me chance to keep up. I didn't feel like I was last, but instead second, following a good leader.
When we got to the top of one of our longest hills, we were rewarded with this spectacular view of the Mediterranean. Normally, the longer and harder the climb, the better the scenery. The downhill glide was another bonus, but on a hilly day, that just led into the next climb.
On the long slow climbs, we had time to dream about our luggage waiting for us at our next stop. And, we visualized the resort. It was to be the nicest one on the Sardinia leg of our trip, with a pool, sandy beach and fine dining.
